Len origanally tried joining the Royal Australian Navy but was rejected having been found medically unfit.
He went to the airforce instead and joined on the 31st of january 1944. Len served at Moratai & Tarakan and was demobilised in 1946.
In 1948 he re-enlisted but decided it wasn't for him and was discharged in October 1948.
He married Ruby Elise Alphey in 1948 and had five children.
