Born in England in 1892, he attended Gatton College in 1912, and enlisted in the 21st Battalion at Warracknabeal, Victoria on13th January 1915. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in June, 1915 and Corporal (temporary) in February 1917. Initially listed as missing in action he was presumed killed on 3rd May 1917.
