Biography contributed by Trinity College

Mr James Goss of Cressy has received a letter of condolence from Lieutenant W K Grubb upon the death of his son Private  A Goss.  Lieutenant Grubb says

“Your son, who was a member of my platoon was a runner and was working with another runner Private C F Hamilton of Evandale when both were shot.  Your son was taken to the dressing station and later to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  A runner’s work is particularly important and dangerous.  It is work upon which much depends.  Your son was admired by all in his platoon and did splendid work in action on October 4th when he received his death wound.
