Daughter of World War 1 veteran, Second Lieutenant Ernest Norman Litchfield, Ethel Litchfield enlisted in the AAMWS at Bathurst in January 1944 at 22 years of age.
Her father saw action at Gallipoli, being wounded twice. On the second occassion he suffered critical injuries to his right arm in a bomb blast that resulted in its amputation.
Tragically her brother NX 60137 Gunner Ernest St Clair Litchfield was accidentally killed in Egypt on 5 April 1941 whilst serving with the 3rd Anti-Tank Regiment of the Royal Australian Artillery.
After being discharged in 1946, Ethel married Frederick Parslow who served as NX 134131 with the 13th Line Maintenance Section during World War II. They were to have two children.
Ethel passed away in 2010 at the age of 89.
