Biography contributed by Robert Wight

Leading Seaman George John Bush was loaned from the RN to the RAN for three years (which would turn into almost seven years) on 14 October 1912.

He served on HMAS Melbourne (1), HMAS Australia (1) and HMS Vindictive in April 1918 for the raid on Zeebrugge, for which he was awarded the DSM (after unsuccessfully participating in the ballot for the VC that took place after the raid).

He was demobilised on 20 April 1919 in London.
