JOHNSTONE, Harry Talbot (1894-1979)

Harry Talbot Johnstone was born on 26 July 1894, the son of John Henry Talbot Johnstone, and Letty nee Noble. He was enrolled as a day student at the Geelong College in 1909 departing in 1910. His adress at enrolment was Virginia Street, Newtown.

He embarked on RMS Moldavia on 29 May 1915 for England, in order to enlist in the London Regiment listing his profession as Engineer. The Geelong Advertiser reported in December 1915 that: 'Mr H Talbot Johnstone, of Geelong, who went to England in July to join King Edward's Horse, was on the list in October for appointment to second-lieutenant in the regiment.'

He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 4 December 1915, and wounded in France on 15 December 1916.

On 9 November 1918, he married Dorothy Josephine Beryl Upjohn in London. In 1920, he was admitted to registration as a Freemason with the 'Lodge of Felicity' in England and in 1922 he applied for Freedom of the City Admission for London, England. At the time he was working as a mechanical engineer and was living at Kensington, Middlesex, England.

Harry Talbot Johnstone died in 1979 in England.
