Vincent was the second of four children of Thomas Brennan (born 1881 in Vass, Western Australia) and Winifred Theresa Skehan (born 1895 in Carlton, Victoria). Thomas and Winifred married in Perth, WA in 1914, and Thomas worked as a Repairer and a Teamster around Perth, Fremantle and Busselton regions.

Vincent was a Labourer - working in Kalgoorlie and Perth - when he enlisted in the Australian Army in November 1939. He served as a Driver (Service No: WX71) with2nd.3rd Field Regiment. He was in Crete in 1941 when he captured by the Germans, and imprisoned at Stalag VII in Moosburg, Germany. Vincent was Discharged in 1947.

Vincent's Uncles - James Vincent (Service No: 3024); Peter (Service No: 15146); Edward John (Service No: 1020); and George Henry (Service No: 3407) served in WWI. Uncle Matthew served in the ACMF in WWII (Service No: W83925) and brother Kevin Edward (Service No: W57244) served with 5 Anti Aircraft Battery in WWII.

In 1947 in Leeton, NSW, Vincent married Ethel Isobel Ross (born 1917 in Glebe, NSW), and they settled in Perth WA to raise their family. Vincent worked for the WA Governament Railways until his death in 1955. Ethel died in 2003.
