Noel was the third of four children of Robert (Bert) Albert Edward Crosier (born 1893 in Natimuk, Victoria) and Myrtle Alice Risely (born 1896 in Maffra, Victoria). Bert, a Labourer in Lal Lal in Bendigo, Victoria, married Myrtle in Traralgon, Victoria in 1918. Bert and Myrtle lived at Lal Lal in Bendigo where Bert worked as a Labourer until 1922 when the family moved to heyfield in Maffra, Gippsland.
Noel was a Labourer in Maffra, Gippsland in August 1942 when he enlisted with the 20 th Pioneer Battalion as a Private (Service No: VX105149). In the early years of the War the Battalion had a defensive role in Victoria and QLD. In 1944 the Battalion was deployed to Merauke in Dutch New Guinea to defend the Allied airport, and in 1945 was deployed to New Guinea before being disbanded in November 1945. Brother Edward John served as a Corporal (Service No: 29220) in WWII.
Noel returned to Maffra in Gippsland and was working as a Labourer when he married Dorothy Redman (born 1928 in Maffra, Victoria) in 1952 in Stratford, Victoria. Noel and Dorothy settled in Maffra where Noel was employed as a Factory Worker. Dorothy died in 1981 and Noel in 1989.
