On 14 May 1969 he deployed to 1 ARU and served with them until he joined 11 Platoon D Company 5 RAR on 4 June. Jack returned to Australia with the Battalion on 5 March 1970. He redeployed to 1 ARU on 15 July 1971 until he was assigned to HQ Australian Army Force Vietnam on 16 September 1971 and returned with them on 12 February 1972. - Courtesy of Gary Townsend
