A National Serviceman when he deployed to South Vietnam in February 1969 with 5 RAR. Doug was a member of 3 Section, 10 Platoon, Delta Company. On Operation Quintus Thrust, the first operation of the 1969/70 Tour, he was wounded in a mine incident near Hoa Long in which the Battalion lost three members Killed-in-Action and several others wounded. Doug was medically evacuated to Australia on 26 March 1969. - Gary Townsend
