3480 Pte John E Wilson (Australian) B. 1893 D. 1949 A. 56 yrs. Was a champion bricklayer/builder. Saw service in the Militia Engineers before The Great War and then from Sept 1915 as a reinforcement and was posted to the 53rd Battalion in France in Feb 2016. Wounded in Action in July 1916 at the Battle of Fromelles and returned to active service in Oct 2017 but was never fully fit ever again. However, in July 1941 he signed up for service again with the Garrison Battalion in Sydney but was discharged as medically unfit in Dec 1942. He too suffered from chronic severe alcoholism, lung damage from mustard gas and PTSD and died in 1949.
