Died on this date – 1st April.... Arthur Bede Waddups was born at Nyngan, New South Wales, Australia in 1889. He married Alice Maude Luby in 1908 in Sydney, NSW & they had a daughter in 1909 who died in November, 1909.

Arthur Bede Waddups enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 8th September, 1914 as a 25 year old, Married, Coachbuilder from Sydney, NSW.

Wheeler Sergeant Arthur Bede Waddups embarked from Sydney, NSW on HMAT Argyllshire (A8) on 18th October, 1914 with the No. 1 Section Divisional Ammunition Column. He joined the M.E.F. (Mediterranean Expeditionary Force) on 30th April, 1915.

Wheeler Sergeant Arthur Bede Waddups was reduced to the ranks by Field Court Martial held at Camp Cleopatra on 1st June, 1915 for being absent without leave.

Gunner Waddups was punished with 7 days Field Punishment No. 2 for Breaking Camp on 21st June, 1915 & awarded 4 days Field Punishment No. 2 for Breaking Camp on 6th October, 1915.
Gunner Waddups was hospitalised at Cairo from 1st February, 1916 & discharged on 14th March, 1916 with VD.

Gunner Waddups proceeded to France from Alexandria & arrived at Marseilles on 12th June, 1916. He was hospitalised on 29th September, 1916 & admitted with Influenza. He was discharge don 6th October, 1916.

Gunner Waddups was admitted to Hospital at Etaples on 13th October, 1916 with Colic & discharged to Base on 22nd October, 1916.

Gunner Waddups was transferred to 4th Divisional Ammunition Column & taken on strength on 24th November, 1916.

Gunner Waddups was admitted to Field Ambulance on 27th November, 1916 with Debility then transferred to Hospital at Rouen, France where he was reported to have an abscess of the liver on 17th December, 1916.

Gunner Waddups was invalided to England on 31st December, 1916 on Hospital Ship suffering from Pleurisy effusion. He was admitted to 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff, Wales on 1st January, 1917.

A Medical Report was completed on Gunner Waddups on 24th January, 1917 in which they reported he had an amoebic abscess of Liver which had originated in May, 1915 at Lemnos. The Medical Board found that Gunner Waddups was unfit for War Service, Home Service or Light Duty at Home.

Gunner Arthur Bede Waddups died on the afternoon of 1st April, 1917 at 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff, Wales from Pleural Effusion & Abscess of Liver. He was buried in Cathays Cemetery, Cardiff, Wales.
