Len was the third of seven children of George William Tallnash (born 1879 in Omeo, Gippsland, Victoria) and Mary Maud Hodgkin (born 1885 in Omeo, Gippsland, Victoria). George - a Licensed Victualler - married Mary in 1906 and they settled in Omeo in Gippsland, Victoria to raise their family. In his later years, George worked as a Labourer.
Len worked as a Labourer and Balerman in Maffra and Traralgon before he enlisted in the Army in February 1943. He was a Private (Service No:VX132398) attached to 37/52 Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in February 1946. Younger brother Alfred James (Service No:V23621) also served in WWII.
Len was working as a Balerman at Traralgon, Gippsland in 1947 when he married War Widow Doris Eleanor Curran (nee Davis, born 1919 in Melbourne, Victoria). Len and Doris settled in Traralgon where Len worked as a Mill Employee until he retired. He and Doris moved to Mornington Peninsular in 1972, and then to New South Wales. Doris died in 1989 and Len in 2006.
