Wyn was the eldest of four children of Richard Patrick Tarrant (born 1882 in Rockhampton, QLD) and Jessie Elizabeth Kemp (born 1880 in Melbourne, Victoria). Richard (a Labourer) and Jessie (a Lady's Help) married in 1909 in Bourke, NSW. They settled at Rocky Bar in Yetman, NSW where Richard was a Selector.

Wyn was living at Rocky Bar in Yetman, NSW in 1942 (her employment was listed as 'Home Duties') when she enlisted in the RAAF. Wyn (Service No:98264) was an Aircraftwoman attached to 2 Embarkation Depot Bradfield Park when she was Discharged in 1943. Brother Leslie James Richard Tarrant (Private, Service No:QX30763) served with 2/15 Infantry Battalion in WWII.

Wyn was in Goondiwindi, QLD in 1944 when she married Charles Nordby Andersen (born 1903 in Cooktown, QLD). Charles had lived at Samarai in Milne Bay, New Guinea before becoming a Power House Engineer with Mt Isa Mines in QLD. Wyn and Charles lived in Mt Isa, QLD until retiring to Southport, QLD. Charles died in 1985 and Wyn in 1992.
