Ron was the eldest of six children of Frederick George Nash (born 1882 in Murrundindi, Victoria) and Florence Myrtle McKenzie (born 1893 in Yea, Victoria). Frederick was a Labourer in 1910 when he married Florence. They settled at Yea and raised their family, and by 1940 Frederick was a Farmer.

Ron was a Labourer at Molesworth, Yea in Victoria when he enlisted in the Australian Army  in August 1940. He served as a Driver (Service No:VX44250) with 4 Australian Reserve Motor Transport Coy and was a PoW of the Japanese in Malaya. Ron was Discharged on 29 July 1946. Brothers-in-Law Robert Eden White (Gunner; Service No:VX26807), James Edwin White (Private; Sevice No:VX30203), and Alexander George White (Gunner; Service No:VX26804/Aircraftman; Service No:429754), Sister-in-Law Ada Isabel Ellis (Aircraftwoman; Service No:F103722) and Brother George Oswald Nash (Private; Service No:V380580) also served in WWII.

Ron settled in Violet Town, Victoria when he returned from War, and was a Farmer in 1951 when he married  Minnie White (born 1913 in Violet Town, Victoria). Ron was a Farmer in Violet Town until 1960 when he and Minnie relocated to Frankston, where Ron died in 1985. Minnie died in 1989
