Military Medal Citation – 14 October 1918
“For great personal courage and dash in the operations of 3rd of October 1918 near Joanacourt north of St Quentin. When his company was mopping up it's objective, a machine gun opened fire from a distance of about 50 yards. Lance Corporal Cox rushed across the open and attacked it, killing three of the crew with his rifle and capturing the remainder.” (Source: Enlistment Papers Wm Stanley Cox Service No. 1346)
