Pte Cole enlisted at Melbourne, Vic. on 9 October 1916. While in training at the Seymour Camp, he contracted Cerebro Spinal Meningitis and was transferred to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne on 9 February 1917, where he died two days later on 11 February 1917.
