Son of Robert Aldrick Vallack and Ada Vallack of 'Kalna", Lawrence Street, Manly, NSW. Brother of Charles Aldrick Vallack who returned to Australia on 2 September 1919 having served with the 4th Field Artillery Brigade.

Commenced return to Australia on 21 January 1916 aboard HT Karoola arriving at Melbourne on 19 February 1916 for onward travel to Sydney

During 1920c Robert married Lorna M.Oakes in Chatswood, NSW
