Son of Oliver Orman and Elizabeth Catherine  Dorrington formerly Orman of Newtown, NSW.

Brother of Daniel George Orman who was killed in action on 2 October 1917 while serving with the 33rd Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on Panel 23 of the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres; Henry Pinker Orman who returned to Australia on 10 November 1919 having served with the 6th Railway Operating Company.

Commneced return to Australia on 17 March 1917 (as wounded) aboard HT Beltana disembarking on 12 May 1917.
