War Service/Promotions: On 23 December 1916 attached to permanent staff of R.B.A.A. ex 4th F.A.B. He appears to have trained for one month as a gunner, then as a driver. He was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire, England, on 10 February 1917 and discharged a month later (bronchitis). Transferred to Australian Medical Corps Training Depot 10 April 1917. Transferred 14th Field Ambulance 8 June 1917, and proceeded from England to Rouelles, France. At this date Geoffrey reverts to rank of Private at own request. On 3 January 1918 he is back at Australian Headquarters in London; his application having been approved for him to return to Australia to complete his third year at university in medical studies.
Fate: Returned to Australia per HT Llanstephen Castle for completion of medical studies on 15 February 1918. He married Nina Mavis Stair Dalrymple, 1 December 1923, St Augustine's Church, Neutral Bay, NSW.

Note: Fargo Military Hospital was part of the Larkhill Garrison on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire, England. Located approximately midway between Larkhill and the road from Long Barrrow Crossroads to Rollestone and adjoining the northern end of Fargo Plantation. Built in 1914 according to The Barrack Room (1921) it had 1,200 beds and accommodation for nursing staff.
