Son of William Thomas Vale and Emily Vale of Old Kent Road, London, England.

Prior to migrating to Australia he had serve seven years in the Royal Navy

Commenced return to Australia on 30 January 1918 aboard HT Euripidies disembarking on 31 March 1918

Medals: 1914-1915 Star (by Navy), British War Medal, Victory Medal

On 25 June 1919 William married Mabel Edith Hinders in St. Johns Church, Camberwell, Dulwich, England. J.G. Nassall officiated.
