Son of Archibald Henry and Alice Marion Simpson of 'St Ives', Hunters Hill, NSW. Brother of Claud H.G. Simpson, Edgar Goldie Simpson, Ellen M. Simpson and Adam James Goldie Simpson who returned to Australia on 27 June 1919 having served with both the 4th and 56th Battalions
