Glen Martin Duus was born in Brisbane, Queensland on 2 May 1942 to Vivian Wildey DUUS (1909-1967)and Gladys Elsie DUUS nee MARTIN (1911 - 2001). He decided to become an Army pilot and became one of the first group of Army ‘Air Cadets’ to undertake officer training at OTU Scheyville. Glen entered the Army on 16 July 1965 with Class 1/65 and as a Junior was allocated to 10 Section, 4 Platoon, B Company under Captain Milligan (RAASC). His fellow section members were Cadets Ray Earl, Kerry Rinkin (KiA Vietnam), Gordon Sharp (KiA Vietnam), Paul ‘Tony’ Trevethick and Peter Blackman. In his Senior Term, Glen was Company Sergeant Major of B Company. Glen graduated with his class on 17 December 1965 and was allocated to the Aviation Corps. On 7 January he commenced Basic Flying Training School (BFTS) Course 60 at RAAF Point Cook, Melbourne, with fellow Scheyvillians Roger Colclough, Peter Garton, Peter Serle, Peter Spoor and Steve Tizzard. Passing BFTS, Glen commenced Advanced Flying Training (AFT) at RAAF Amberley Course 8/66 (Rotary Wing). Completing AFT, he was posted to the 1st Aviation Regiment.

Glen served in Vietnam from 26 September 1967 until 24 September 1968. During this time, he recorded 1,100 hours of flying, including Direct Support Missions during the Battles of Coral and Balmoral. After leave Glen returned to 1 Aviation Regiment. From there he was posted to 162 Independent Recce Flight on 31 March 1969 where he was promoted to Lieutenant. On 5 January 1970 Glen transferred to RAEME, then on 25 March commenced Long Term Schooling (Flying Training) in England. He returned to 1 Aviation Regiment in the EME section on 1 July 1971. On 9 November Glen was posted as OC Workshops at 162 Recce where he was promoted to Major.  He retired from the Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Glen had lived in Brisbane, but died in Maryborough, Queensland, on 10 June 2008. His life is commemorated in a monument in the Garden of Remembrance in the Pinnaroo Cemetery and Crematorium at Bridgeman Downs (a northern suburb of Brisbane).  RIP Glen.
