Private Frederick William Brown (Service No:5676) enlisted in the AIF on 28 January 1916 and was attached to 16 Infanttry Battalion when he embarked on 18 July 1916 from Fremantle WA on board HMAT Seeang Bee A48. Private Brown was WiA in France in April 1917 and embarked for the RTA on 4 June 1919 on board HT Breman. He was Discharged on 18 September 1919.
Born in 1890 in Fremantle WA, Fred was the eldest of five children of William Brown (b1861 in Perth, WA) and Charlotte Early (b1869 in Hampshire, England) - Charlotte immigrated in 1886, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Helena Mena. William (a Signalman) and Charlotte married in 1889 in Fremantle WA where they settled and raised their family and William worked as a Signalman.
Fred worked as a Tailor in Fremantle WA and in 1920 married Nancy Hannah Jane Vickerman (b1897 in Coolgardie, WA). Fred and Nancy settled in Fremantle where Fred was a Tailor - daughter Peggy (Service No: WF12947) served in the AAWS and worked as a Tailoress. Fred died in 1967 and Nancy in 1977.
