17 Jun 1919: | Honoured Military Medal, "The Last Hundred Days", For conspicuous gallantry near Roisel on the night of 16 September 1918 when in charge of four teams and wagons engaged in the transport of ammunition whne his party came under an intense concentration of enemy shell fire. Although several horses were killed and wounded as well as some of the Drivers he succeeded by his coolness, skilfulness and courage in preventing a stampede, by going in amoungst the terrified horses under heavy shell fire and cutting out those that were wounded or killed and getting the remainder clear of the area being shelled. His actions undoubtedly saved additional casualties. | |
