THE LATE GUNNER RICHARDSON.
Mr. Richardson, of Lismore, has received the . following letter, from Lieut. R. McMahon, of D Company, 4th Battalion, written from France on April 20 : — "Just a few lines to express my deepest sympathy. I feel it an honour to be able to to write to the father of one of my bravest and best lads.
Your son died at his post. The men of my platoon felt his loss very much, and it will be very hard to replace him."

Writing on April 27th, Hector O. Williams says: — "Long before this reaches you, you will have received the sad hews of your son's death, which occurred on Sunday, 15th April. We had made a successful advance, and the Germans counter attacked In mass formation in front of us. Your son was killed by a bullet in the head. We miss him very much; he was a good gunner and instructor with other men. He was always cool and plucky . I understand you have other sons here. I sincerely hope they will be; spared to return to you unharmed so your loss will not be any-greater. His section mates send to you their sympathy."
