4 Oct 1916: Honoured Meritorious Service Medal (MSM), For gallantry in action and devotion to duty both in the trenches at FLEURBAIX, RUE MARLE and POZIERES. No personal risk has been too great in order that casualties should receive immediate attention. Recommended by:- Brigadier General 6th Australian Infantry Brigade.

David Smith Henderson was born in Thurso Scotland in 1896 - he came to Australia and enlisted in the Military.
He served in the First World War - Service No - 1224.
He Enlisted in Melbourne and fought at Galipoli where he suffered Gas Poisoning and was later returned to Australia.
