Enlistment
When Alexander George White walked into the Fremantle Drill Hall in Western Australia to enlist on 10 July 1916, he told the recruitment officers he was 20 years and 11 months old.
The Reality: He was actually born on 16 August 1901 in Adelaide. He was just 14 years old when he stood in line, turning 15 while at Blackboy Hill training camp, and was a mere 16 years old when he saw front-line combat in France.
