FRANK WILLIAM TAYLOR was born in North Sydney on 14th May, 1894, the son of Mr. James William Taylor and Mrs. Olinda Lucy Ann Taylor. He was educated at Fort Street Public School, Sydney. He joined the service of the Bank at Head Office on 17th May, 1910; was transferred to Dubbo in August, 1914; to Coonamble in March, 1915; and to Trangie, as teller, in August, 1915.

Frank William Taylor enlisted in the A.I.F. on 15th November, 1915, and received an appointment as first-lieutenant. He served in Egypt and France until June, 1918. On 21 st of that month, after successfully leading his platoon (of A Company, 3rd Battalion) and capturing the German position at Strazeele, Merris, he was badly wounded. Two days later he died of wounds at St. Omer Hospital, France.
