Resting at Sandgate Cemetery.

84 years ago today, on the Saturday afternoon of the 21st December 1935, Private Norman Coward, 20th Battalion, boundary rider from Newcastle Street, Kurri Kurri, New South Wales and 148 Broadmeadow Road, Broadmeadow, N.S.W., father of three, was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 39. METHODIST 1 (WESLEYAN) B SW. 69.

Born at Quirindi, New South Wales on the 30th November 1896 to Charles and Esther Coward; husband of Ruby M Coward nee Worrell (married 1919, died?), Norman enlisted April 1915 at Liverpool, N.S.W.

Norman returned home on the 5th July 1918 medically unfit, suffering from chronic nephritis.

His name has been inscribed on the Scone District Honour Roll. Name not inscribed on the Kurri Kurri War Memorial.

Service record states Died after Discharge.

Plaque in New South Wales Garden of Remembrance.

Older brother George (Reg No-3775, born 1892, died 1972) also served 1st A.I.F.
