Son of Charles Edward Upjohn of London, England

Husband of Louisa Upjohn of Wycliffe Road, Battersea, England. Herbert and Louisa were married on 23 November 1902 in St. Phillips Church, Surrey, England. Vicar E. Herbert Jones officiated.

8 September 1914 - enlisted at Rosebry Park, NSW with the 13th Battalion and with the rank of Private

17 April 1916 - transferred to the 4th Pioneer Battalion with the rank of Sergeant

27 June 1916 - promoted to Armourer Sergeant

12 February 1918 - transferred to the Australian Army Ordnance Corps with the rank of Armourer Staff Sergeant

9 December 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Borda disembarking on 2 February 1919

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

23 February 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District as medically unfit

In March 1967 Herbert was living in Seventh Avenue, Berala, Sydney, NSW
