Brian, a 1st Intake National Serviceman, enlisted on 30 June 1965 and did his recruit training at 2 RTB. He completed his Corps training with 2 RAR. In January 1966 he was transferred to 5 RAR, joined A/Tank Pl and deployed with them to SVN on 6 May 1966. When the Reconnaissance Platoon was formed Brian volunteered and was accepted and served with them until returned to Australia on 12 May 1967.
