Biography contributed by Nichola Wallace

Graham's squadron was one of those known as Tunnel Rats.

In Vietnam, tunnel rats were soldiers, primarily Australian and American, who were tasked with infiltrating and clearing enemy tunnel systems, often used by the Viet Cong. Their primary role was to search, clear, and destroy these tunnels, which frequently housed bunkers and other enemy facilities.

Here's a more detailed look at their duties:

Tunnel Infiltration:

Tunnel rats were the specialized personnel who entered and navigated enemy tunnel networks.

Search and Clear:

They systematically searched the tunnels for explosives, weapons, and enemy personnel.

Explosives and Destruction:

Once they had located enemy positions, they would use explosives to destroy the tunnels and bunkers.

Interconnected Systems:

The tunnel systems were often complex and interconnected, requiring tunnel rats to be highly skilled and experienced in operating in confined spaces.

High Risk:

The work was incredibly dangerous, with tunnel rats facing the constant risk of ambushes, booby traps, and explosives.

He was married with 2 sons, Steven and Mark and after his divorce they moved to Buderim where he lived for about 30 years. During this time, he worked for Q-Build until he could no longer work, for health reasons.

He stayed connected with his mates from Vietnam, attending reunions around Australia and meeting regularly in Buderim.

The television program, Australian Story, filmed part of the episode, Bomber and Roy, about his mate, Tony 'Bomber' Bower-Miles, in Graham's home.

He was a very generous man with his time and his friendships. He was always ready to help and take care of people when needed.
