Between 22 December 1916 & his discharge in 1918, Edward had spent considerable time in hospitals in England suffering with Deafness, Trench Fever a Pulmonary condition. He was returned to Australia, disembarking at Albany on 26 February 1918 on board Pt Darwin. He was declared medically unfit for further service and was discharged on 15 March 1918 because of Chronic Bronchitis. Attributed to his war service in France.
Edward is the son of Jerome KERN and Mary Agnes nee KENNEDY.
