Son of Thomas Vaughan and Elizabeth Ann Vaughan of 'Copmanhurst', Clarence River, NSW.
Brother of Arthur Greaves Vaughan who was killed in action on 23 July 1916 while serving with the 3rd Machine Gun Company and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial and Regnald Thomas Vaughan who returned to Australia 30 January 1919 having served with the Australian Flying Corps.
Commenced return to Australia on 22 December 1918 about HT Bakara disembarking on 19 February 1919
