Arthur was only 16 years 8 months old when he was killed. His family epitaph reads- ONLY A LAD, BUT DID A MAN'S DUTY.

AWM Summary:

Private Arthur Hill (2537, 29th Battalion) was a farm labourer from Moonee Ponds, Victoria. He had been a bugler with the CMF before enlisting in September 1915. Arthur was killed in action near Flers, France on 27 October 1916, only 12 days after joining his battalion. He is commemorated at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. Arthurs’ mother wrote that he was 16 years 4 months. Arthur’s father Private Thomas Hill also served in the AIF with the 4th Australian Division Headquarters.
