LAMB, Stuart Andrew (1921-2019)
Stuart Andrew Lamb was born 26 June 1921 at Geelong, son of Herbert Stuart and Ruby Agnes (Condie) Lamb. He was enrolled at the College from 1935-1937. A member of Shannon House, he played in the 2nd XVIII Football team, and was one of the “consistent players on the tam. He also received house football colours in 1937.
He enlisted in the RAN on 15 October 1941 and served as PM3749 AB SA Lam, being posted to the London depot in March 1942. Promoted Able Seaman in September 1942, he was posted to HMAS Nizam in March 1943, then to HMAS Norman in July that year, until the time of his discharge from HMAS Cerberus on 5 March 1945 in order to assist his father on his farm at Geelong.
Stuart married Joan McGann in 1947 and they lived on the family property, “Melthan” to about the 1980s. They had two children, son Roger also attend the school (OGC 1964).
Stuart passed away 24 November 2019, Geelong, aged 98 years.
