'LILLY, John Henry. No. 1861, 41st Battn. Born and educated at Townsville. Son of John Henry and Louisa Mary Lilly, of Main Street, Townsville. Enlisted February 14th, 1916, and went into camp at Brisbane. Left Brisbane for England in May, 1916, and went to Salisbury Plain to complete his training. Sent to France and was wounded on the 29th September, 1917, and died as a result of wounds on 1st October, 1917.' from Queenslanders Who Fought in the Great War. (nla.gov.au)
