Served and suffered during The Great War, resting at Sandgate Cemetery, not forgotten.

Born at Brooklet, New South Wales on the 3rd June 1895 to Henry (Harry) Thomas and Emma Ringland from Billinudgel, Richmond River, New South Wales; husband of Mary Ellen Ringland nee Whelan (married 1921, Murwillumbah, N.S.W., died 1983, sleeping here), Walter enlisted September 1916 at Lismore, N.S.W.

I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label in remembrance of Walter’s service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.

Many thanks to Walter's Granddaughter Rose Scully for the notification and family history.

Walter had three sons, two who enlisted in the 2nd A.I.F. My father Cecil Patrick Ringland was stationed at Fort Scratchley for about 3 years. Walter had 2 brothers who also served in the 1st A.I.F., older brother Corporal Henry Joseph Ringland M.I.D. (Reg No-463, 26th Battalion, born 1890, KIA 14.11.1916) and Private Alfred Ringland (Reg No-1735, 26th Battalion, born 1893, died?).
