Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board
Eric Robert GARRIOCK, (Service Number 11480) was born on 19 April 1897 at Cootamundra. He began working at the Railways on 21 January 1914 at Eveleigh Workshops, as an apprentice in the locomotive branch. By April 1914, he had changed from an apprentice to a gasfitter, and he would remain in this position until 13 September 1915, when he joined the AIF at the age of 18. He embarked on 15 January 1916 from Sydney, on the RMS ‘Osterley’.
He was killed in action in Belgium on 15 September 1917, at the age of 20. He was buried in Birr Cross Roads Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium.
