Son of  Carl 'Charles' Frederick William Zegenhagen and Anna Matilda Zegenhagen Eisart of Gympie, QLD.

Brother of Henry George Zegenhagen who returned to Australia on 1 September 1919 having served with the 3rd ANZAC Imperial Camel Corps.

Commenced return to Australia on 20 May 1919 aboard HT Nestor disembarking on 4 July 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane.

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

During 1923c Frederick married Ruby Lillian Henning in Victoria.
