Brother of Samuel James Voss who returned to Australia on 19 August 1919 having served with the 40th Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 8 January 1919 aboard HT Orsova disembarking on 20 February 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel Hobart

On 10 June 1920 Bertam married Violet May Gadd in St James' Church, Ranelagh, Tasmania. They later divorced in 1947.
