William James Delaney was born in abt. 1895 in Warragul, Victoria, the son of Susan and Thomas. He married Kathleen Veronica Noonan in 1923 in Melbourne, Victoria. They had three children during their marriage. William enlisted to fight the battle in World War 1 in 1915, he served for a number of years. He also volunteered to go and rescue dead and wounded soldiers under horrendous conditions with heavy artillery being fired he did this for several nights, on the 19th & 20th & 21st July 1916. William joined the police force and had a long career with them thereafter, he went on to become an Auditor. He lived in around St.Kilda until his death and died in 1974 in Austin Hospital, Heidelberg at the age of 77.
