'East of GUEUDECOURT on the night of 14th/15th February, 1917, Private DORRINGTON showed great coolness and courage in a raid made by a Company of his Battalion. He was acting as a runner for the O.C. Assault and at great personal risk on several occasions, he proceeded along the enemy parapet carrying messages to the left flank party, although the trench was swept by artillery and machine gun fire. The work done bys with a view to obtaining more exact information as to the wounded manUs whereabouts. having obtained this they again set out, and, while passing through a heavy enemy barrage, found a wounded man of the R.G.A. whom they dressed and started to carry back to the R.A.P., On the way to the R.A.P. this man died, and Private FOX and his partner again went through the enemy barrage, found the man for whom they were looking and brought him in. The courage and devotion to duty of Private FOX is worthy of the highest praise.'
