Son of Mr and Mrs MOURANT of Hamilton, Vic.  Educated at Hamilton and was interested in motoring and motor car construction.  He was working as a motor mechanic in Hamilton for several years.  Married with four children, Eric resided at 116 West Street Brompton and enlisted in November 1939.  Leaving Australia in April 1940 he served in the Middle East and Palestine.
