Kelly, William James Russel; age 19; born 1895, Lawriston NSW; enlisted - Taree NSW.


-one of three Kelly brothers who served in the Great War. He was the son of Robert Kelly and the grandson of Joseph Laurie of Laurieton [Lawriston?] and the great grandson of the Patriarch, Joseph Laurie of Stobo in Scotland-many of his descendants emigrated to Australia and many of them fell in the Great War.

His brother, Alexander Kelly died of illness whilst on Active Service in France.

 

He survived the war and is honoured in  the book of remembrance for Tweeddale. [Roll of honour of Peebleshire men killed in the Great War, 1914-1918. With portraits.]
