Enderby Gordon ANDERSON was born on 12th July,1887 in Dehra Dun, India

His parents were Robert Uniacke ANDERSON and Margaret Julia GORDON - his father was a tea planter & died in 1892 in India and his mother died in 1945 in Penguin, Tasmania. His mother was living at The Moat, Carrick, Tasmania when he enlisted.

Enderby was a 2nd Lieutenant  at Sandhurst Military College in England from 1906-1910 - he married Violet May LAWRENCE in 1909 in Westminster, London - what happened to Violet is unknown.

He enlisted with the Australian Army on 7th November, 1914 - his unit was the Light Horse Brigade Train 3 which embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Chilka on 2nd Feb. 1915

Enderby was wounded on 28th July 1915 and transferred to the ship Rewa in Anzac Cove where he died on 29th July - he was buried at sea. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial (Panel 68) in Gallipoli, Turkey

He was awarded the following Service Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal
