Son of Frederick Vassel and Thirza Vassel on Wellington Street, Waterloo, NSW. Brother of Frederick Charles Vassel who was killed in action on 14 July 1918 and was buried in the Villers-Bretonneux Cememtery Plot XX, Row A, Grave 10.
