Walter was born in Gympie in 1875, son of Kenneth Morrison and Agnes Fergusson.

He married Lilian Gurnett on 20 Sep 1899.

Private Morrison enlisted in Townsville on 26 Apr 1917 and embarked from Sydney per HMAT A28 “Miltiades” on 2 Aug 1917.  He served on the Western Front with the 47th Battalion AIF. He returned to Australia on 31 Jan 1918.  He was a tailor.
