Biography contributed by Peter O'Connell

PTE Reineker enlisted in the AIF as an infantryman on 12 Jan 1915.  After undergoing recruit and predeployment training he subsequently arrived on the Gallipoli Peninsula on the 27 May 1915 and remained there throughout the campaign.  Whilst at Gallipoli he contracted " Pyrexia" due to the conditions that he and others were serving under.  It ultimetley weakened him sufficiently enough that he was hospitalised toward the end of 1915 in the Army field hospital on Gallipoli. Due to the severity of his condition, he was returned to Australia arriving in March 1916 where he was admitted to hospital.  After spending 3 months in hospital he was subsequently discharged from the AIF in Jul 1916.
